About Us

Levitt DeWitt Earhart founded Earhart Technology in 1982, as a job shop offering engineering and manufacturing services to local businesses. Following his death in 2005, Santa Barbara Technology, Inc. purchased the tangible and intangible assets of the company. The ET 1000 was all but orphaned, with only six machines manufactured under the Santa Barbara Technology name. Having been intimately involved in the design, engineering, and manufacture of the machines since their inception (see History,) Jonathan Scott purchased all rights to the ET 1000 in 2009. In tribute to Levitt, he re-branded the program with the Earhart Technology name.

History

In the mid 1980’s, a yogurt flavoring company approached an industrial designer with a request for a custom tabletop R&D machine that would replicate the action of 500 gallon production stir cookers. That gentleman built a crude prototype using an electric drill, a broomstick, and a dime store hotplate. He then approached Earhart Technology to clean up the design. We built 15 “TM 1700” units for the flavoring company, some of which are still in use today alongside several of our newer ET 1000 machines.
